The history of our coffee
The history of our coffee all began with the passion of Mr Enrico Malinverno. The very first cup of piping hot Varesina Caffè was served way back in 1919 in the recently-opened roasting plant in Varese and, in the 1950s, what had become Varese’s oldest roasting plant was then sold by its founder to Balzarini and Vedani. The aroma-rich drink was so popular with people that in 1981 Abramo and Bianca Maffina established Rio’s Café and the following year their love and passion for coffee and the roasting drove them to buy the Varesina Caffè business. From that year on, coffee roasting has been a part of the family.
The history and subsequent success of Varesina Caffè are all down to its exquisite ingredients, which have remained untouched over the years. For one hundred years the walls have exuded aromas that testify to the strong values of the business, such as its genuine passion and the importance it places on selecting the very finest single-origin coffee beans, creating blends and processing and roasting coffee with absolutely meticulous care. Combined with our constant search for outstanding quality and the very best service, it is these values that Varesina Caffè has always been particularly proud of. The result is exceptional coffee and coffee blends with wonderful aroma and flavour (due to our rigorous selection of single-origin beans) which are served daily in coffee shops and cafés.
Only the finest green beans from Central and South America are used to make Varesina Caffè and our Silver blend, Martin blend, Plata blend, Junior blend and Kaffee Cream.
